My Holiday Wish List: Quilting Tools, Notions & Treats I’m Loving This Season
Share
Every year, I put together a little quilting wish list — partly to keep myself organized, partly to give Russell (and my family 👀) an easy place to start. And honestly? Quilting supplies make some of the best gifts because they’re useful, pretty, and always spark new creative energy.
If you’re building your own list, shopping for a quilter, or just curious what’s currently making my sewing room happier, here’s what I’m loving this holiday season.
✨ Under-Shelf or Cabinet Lighting (With Motion Sensor!)
This has been such a game changer for my cutting table setup. On gloomy days, late-night sewing sessions, or when I’m photographing works-in-progress, this lighting makes everything crisp, bright, and easy to see. It installs magnetically and turns on automatically — a dream.

✨ Rotating Cutting Mat
Perfect for trimming fat quarters, sub-cuts, and any block that needs a 360° trim without constantly lifting and shifting the fabric. It’s one of those things you don’t realize you need until you have it — and then you can’t imagine going back.

✨ Fiskars Rotary Cutter (My Ride-or-Die)
I know there are sleeker, more modern rotary cutters out there, but quilting is so much about muscle memory. This classic Fiskars 45mm is what I learned on, what I instinctively reach for, and what I feel safest closing one-handed while I’m in the flow.

✨ Wool Pressing Mat
Portable, compact, and so effective. A wool pressing mat gives you crisp seams and beautifully flat blocks — which is half the battle when you want your quilt top to look sharp and professional. I take mine everywhere.

✨ Work-In-Progress (WIP) Bags
If you’re anything like me, you don’t have one WIP… you have eight. These carry-all project bags keep everything organized and visible — you can see exactly which project is inside, grab it by the sturdy handle, and take it on the go.
✨ 6" x 12" Quilting Ruler (My Favorite Size Ever)
I own at least 15 rulers, but this is the one I reach for every single day. It’s the perfect size for sub-cuts, trimming, and quick straightening. The two Clover Cottons versions look so cute on my shelf and make great stocking stuffers for quilty friends.

✨ My Current Favorite Quilt Kits on Clover Cottons
A quilt kit is such a fun gift — everything you need to start your next project, beautifully curated and beginner-friendly. Here are the ones I’m especially loving right now:
🍀 Layer Cake Squared Quilt Kit — Indelible
🍀Stay Pop II Quilt Kit - Midsummer
✨ Clover Cottons Gift Card
When in doubt, a gift card is always a good idea. It lets you choose your own fabric adventure — whether that’s precuts, quilt kits, or notions you’ve been eyeing for your next big project.
Wrapping Up
Quilting is such a joyful, creative hobby — and having the right tools makes it even better. Whether you’re treating yourself or hinting to your family, I hope this list helps you find something that sparks new ideas (and maybe leads to a finished quilt or two in the new year).
