  • Modern Fabrics

Erica hand-picks every kit and prioritizes women-owned fabric brands and independent designers whenever she can. That means your quilt top is more likely to feature cotton fabrics from a small designer than a mass-market run. Each fabric selection is already coordinated, so you get a polished, beautiful quilt you won't see in every other beginner kit.

  • Approachable Kits

Every beginner-friendly quilt kit includes the quilt top fabric, background fabric, pre-made binding, and a printed pattern, all packed in a reusable pouch. Choose a First Quilt Friendly option if this is your very first quilting project, or Confident Beginner once you have a quilt or two behind you and want more of a challenge. Each pattern comes with detailed instructions written for its skill level, so you always know what comes next.

  • Fun to Make

Many kits use pre-cut fabric like jelly rolls or fat quarter bundles, so a pre-cut quilt kit lets you skip the cutting and start sewing the day it arrives. Most are sized for a throw, big enough to feel like a real finished quilt but still easy to piece on a standard sewing machine. Just add your own backing and batting, and you'll have a quilt worth keeping, gifting, or passing down.

Beginner Quilt Kits FAQs

How do I choose the right skill level?

First Quilt Friendly kits use straightforward construction and are a great place to start if you're new to quilting. Classic Quilt Kits are still approachable without being a seasoned quilter, but they work best once you're comfortable with accurate cutting and a consistent quarter-inch seam allowance.

What size quilt should I make first?

A throw-size quilt is a solid choice for a first project. It's large enough to feel like a finished piece, and as a smaller project than a full-size quilt, it's still manageable to piece, quilt, and bind on a standard home sewing machine.

I only have a sewing machine. What else do I need to get started?

A cutting mat, a rotary cutter, and a seam ripper will cover the basics. Additionally, backing and batting aren't part of the kit, so you can pick those separately based on the finished size and feel you want for your quilt. Everything else in your quilt kit, including the fabric and pattern, is already taken care of.

Do quilt kits include the pattern?

Yes. Every quilt kit includes the printed pattern used to make the finished sample shown in the photos, paired with fabric chosen to match it.
