Heirloom to Wear - Custom Quilt Jacket

Have a quilt you love but don’t use? We’ll turn it into a jacket you can wear every day. This service allows you to send us your own quilt, whether it’s a family heirloom, a vintage find, or a piece you’ve been holding onto. Clover Cottons will transform it into a custom, one-of-a-kind jacket in the size you choose.

Each piece is cut and sewn by hand in our studio using only the original quilt and hand-finished binding, no stiff interfacing, so your jacket drapes, softens, and wears like the textile it was always meant to be.

What You’ll Receive

Turnaround time: 3-5 weeks from when we receive your quilt.

How It Works

1. Choose your jacket size and place your order
2. We’ll email you simple instructions for mailing your quilt
3. Once your quilt arrives, we begin construction
4. Your completed jacket ships back to you

Quilt Requirements

Your quilt should be:

• Large enough to accommodate your selected size
• Clean and in stable condition (no major tears or fabric rot)

If you’re unsure whether your quilt will work, you’re always welcome to email us a photo before ordering.

Important to Know

• Cutting and sewing a quilt is a permanent process. By purchasing this service, you acknowledge that your quilt will be transformed into a garment and cannot be returned to its original form.
• These jackets are crafted by hand from vintage textiles, not mass-produced, so slight imperfections and organic variation are a natural part of their heirloom quality and what makes each piece uniquely yours.
  

Shipping & Delivery

• Customers are responsible for shipping their quilt to our studio after placing an order. Once your purchase is complete, you’ll receive simple packing and mailing instructions by email.
• Return shipping for your finished jacket will be calculated at checkout and covers the cost of safely sending your completed piece back to you.
• We recommend mailing your quilt with tracking and insurance for its full replacement value, especially for heirloom or sentimental pieces.
• If you are local to Atlanta, and would prefer drop-off, please email us to coordinate. We're happy to do so! 

What Happens After You Order

After your purchase, you’ll receive a follow-up email from us with two important things:

1. Shipping & packaging instructions
We’ll walk you through exactly how to prepare and mail your quilt to our studio so it arrives safely.

2. A short questionnaire
This helps us create a jacket that feels truly personal. We’ll ask about topics like the below:

• Any special areas of the quilt that are especially meaningful
• Your preferences for binding or trim color (when available)
• Whether you’d like any leftover quilt pieces returned with your finished jacket
• Jacket size

While all creative and construction decisions are ultimately up to Clover Cottons, this information allows us to honor what matters most to you as we design and build your piece.

Your jacket will move into production once both your quilt and your completed questionnaire have been received.
